Hi! I'm Sarah

My path to End of Life Work

I am so grateful that my path lead me to this role. Being an End of life Doula is dynamic and real. It allows me to work in a space that honors the person, their community and death as a process.

I have worked with people of all ages in a support capacity for 14 years. I decided to focus on End of life Doula work after my own experience with a doula, who supported me postpartum throughout the first year of my daughter's life.  There is a real overlap between the times of birth and death.  These are both times of challenge and transformation, where the stability, courage and knowledge of the community can help guide us through. I feel it is a most worthy cause to be a part of and one that is well aligned with my skills and interests.

Beyond this work, I am a mother of two, an enthusiastic surfer and a practitioner of tea ceremony. I love activities that are nature based and am committed to being a caretaker of this land.

My Support Style

I strive to be honest, direct and intentional. I enjoy learning about different beliefs and have a deep respect for people and diversity. Kindness, gentleness and grace are values that I practice for myself and with others. Being of service to others as a doula means placing that person's best interests at the centre of my work, with utmost integrity. I will always try my best to uphold your wishes.

When we die we step into the role of ancestor. And so “we have a different role and relationship but we’re still in relationship and we still have a role”
